An Exterior Chosen by the Community

In 2019, Diamond did something no other aircraft manufacturer had tried: it opened up the DA50 RG's exterior paint scheme to a public design competition. Enthusiasts, artists, and pilots from around the world submitted their own liveries over a three-month open call — everything from bird-inspired themes to bold racing stripes to the Diamond jewel motif reimagined.

The winning design came from Kirk Smith, a digital artist and private pilot, chosen from an overwhelming number of submissions. It's a small but telling detail about Diamond: a manufacturer willing to let its own community help shape the aircraft.

The Story of the DA50 RG

The DA50 RG carries the same DNA as every Diamond before it — and holds the world's best safety record in its class to prove it. Built on the composite airframe philosophy that's defined Diamond since the DA20, the DA50 RG pairs a single Continental CD-300 jet-fuel engine with retractable gear, giving it the speed of a complex single without giving up the fuel efficiency and low operating costs Diamond owners expect.

It's the aircraft Diamond built for pilots who've outgrown a fixed-gear single but don't want the step up to a twin — one of the largest cabins in its class, genuine cross-country legs, and the same crashworthy safety engineering that runs through the whole Diamond line-up.

Designed for Pilot's Satisfaction

Luxury features abound throughout the DA50 RG's cabin: premium interiors available in several styles, colors, and materials, and ambient LED lighting throughout. Owners can further tailor the cabin with a removable right-hand control stick, an onboard oxygen system, electric air conditioning, a TKS ice-protection system, a Garmin GCU 476 keypad, or a built-in tablet mount.

Every control, from the center console to the throttle quadrant, carries the same fit and finish — this is a cabin built to feel like the most refined single-engine aircraft in the sky, because it is.

Engineered to Protect. Designed to Impress.

Diamond's industry-leading safety record isn't an accident — it's the result of active and passive safety systems working together, built on the same crashworthy composite airframe philosophy that runs through the entire Diamond line-up. The DA50 RG offers the ultimate in handling, stability, and control, backed by structural, system, and propulsion redundancies.

That same engineering discipline carries through to performance and technology. Advanced aerodynamics and a jet-fuel-powered Continental CD-300 keep the DA50 RG efficient at altitude, while a top-notch Garmin avionics suite keeps every system just a glance away.
